Reid's Son Continues To Distance Himself From His Father
Thu Dec 03 — 3:58pm
For proof of Harry Reid’s incredible unpopularity among Nevada voters, look no further than his own son, Rory, desperately trying to distance himself from his father in his gubernatorial run:Politico: Rory Reid: I'm Not Running With My Dad

Lincoln continues to trail in the polls
Thu Dec 03 — 3:56pm
A new Rasmussen poll shows Blanche Lincoln trailing four of her potential GOP opponents next year, and perhaps even more ominous in the short-term picture, 56 percent of Arkansas voters strongly opposing the Democrats’ health care plan. Senator Blanche Lambert Lincoln has found herself right in the middle of the national debate over health care, and that’s a tough spot as she prepares to face Arkansas voters in 2010. As she did in September, Lincoln trails four possible Republican challengers in the latest Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 survey. In fact, support for the incumbent ranges from only 39% to 41% in these match-ups. The two-term senator, who was reelected with 54% of the vote in 2004, appears more vulnerable because of her visible and pivotal role in the Senate debate over health care. Lincoln was the last Democrat to vote for allowing the debate to formally begin, and she has taken pains to point out that a vote to begin debate is not a vote for the bill ... The really bad news for Lincoln is that 56% of Arkansas voters Strongly Oppose the congressional health care plan. Just 18% Strongly Favor it.These new numbers lead Politico to ask this morning - Blanche Lincoln: Most Endangered Democrat? It may be time to start putting Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) at the top of the list of most vulnerable senators up for re-election next year.

NRSC Response to Hodes' TARP Bill Introduction
Wed Dec 02 — 11:12pm
Today the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s (NRSC) responsd to Democrat Senate hopeful Paul Hodes’ introduction of a bill this evening that would end the TARP bank bailout fund:"Let’s at least acknowledge what this bill is: a campaign gimmick. If Paul Hodes is truly concerned about the national debt, why did he vote for the failed stimulus bill, Pelosi’s bloated budget, or the massive government-run health care legislation, which his own Democrat Governor said was too expensive? Thanks to Paul Hodes’ support for Nancy Pelosi’s liberal spending agenda, our nation’s deficit is at an all-time high and Granite State voters are paying the price. And now Paul Hodes really expects voters to believe that he is concerned about the debt? The proof is in his record - a record he will be held accountable for next year." - Amber Wilkerson Marchand, NRSC spokeswoman
Notable fact to consider - Remember that trillion dollar "stimulus" boondoggle that Paul Hodes voted for earlier this year? Well it turns out the interest payments on the "stimulus" bill alone are $347 billion over the next decade. Just the interest payments. An average of $100 million a day. Every day. And yet Paul Hodes would have New Hampshire voters believes he’s now concerned about the irresponsible tax-and-spend policies of the Pelosi-led Congress?

Reid's Health Care Friend
Wed Dec 02 — 4:12pm
Politico has an interesting article on who exactly is working side-by-side with Harry Reid on proposed health care legislation.
Could it be Tom Daschle?
A key quote from Senator Cornyn on the matter:
“The revelation that [Daschle] is guiding legislative strategy in the Senate would be more shocking if President Obama had not violated his pledges of transparency so many times already,” said Texas Sen. John Cornyn, who chairs the Republicans’ campaign committee in the Senate. “Mr. Daschle’s presence in this meeting raises serious ethical concerns and should make clear to the American people that special interests, not their interests, are behind the 2,000-page health care bill on the Senate floor.”

In Case You Missed It...
Tue Dec 01 — 3:26pm
Congress Daily offers a great article regarding Ohio Senate candidate Rob Portman's "jobs" campaign theme.
Here's a snippet:
If Obama’s unmistakable one-word slogan last year was “Change,” Portman's is “Jobs,” and that’s where he is focusing his campaign even as many Republicans rail against the spending of the Obama administration.
A national Democratic strategist fretted that that's the model Virginia Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell used in his victory over Democratic state Sen. Creigh Deeds, although Portman pointed out he was on that theme long before McDonnell's campaign caught national attention.
His local focus is exemplified by his calls on Obama to follow through on his presidential campaign promise to provide federal loan assistance for the American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, a town in south central Ohio.
Portman helped it win the competition for the plant after "an outdated uranium enrichment plant" was shut in 2000 with the loss of more than 1,000 jobs.
The new facility would create three times as many jobs, but the loan assistance has been delayed. In a recent opinion piece in the local Chillicothe Gazette, Portman gently prods Obama to keep his "promise made to Ohio last summer" on the loan so construction can resume and the town's impending jobs boom doesn't evaporate.
